Biloxi-getting back on track

Biloxi, MS is a charming little town. Before Katrina devastated the area I loved to visit and drive down the beach past all of the historic homes. I enjoyed all of the little tourist attractions and seeing the beautiful white sand. I also admit that I love partaking in the occasional slot machine as well so I also would visit their fine gaming establishments.

The first time I visited after the hurricane had hit the area I was so saddened for all of the residents. The majority of the historical homes were destroyed, which drastically changed the look of town. Many of the places where we would eat, hang out and stay were gone.

This year I was so excited to see the city much more vibrant. There were people out and about at a city festival. Most of the casinos have reopened which I am sure is helping the economy. Everyone in that area had to go through so much to get things back on track, but it seems like it is finally paying off for them. I really admire everyone in that area for all of the hard work it took to get their lives back together.

Darn you groundhog!

You look so innocent sitting there, not threatening by any means. Why then Mr. Groundhog did you betray us on groundhog day? You could have just came out for your little morning walk and NOT have seen your shadow. Is that too much to ask from a society that gives a rodent its own day? Did you think that I wanted to wait until June to plant my spring flowers? Did you think that it was acceptable that my whole spring wardrobe has been ignored for sweaters that I have already been wearing for months and am frankly sick of? It is March in Texas and I have my heater on. There is something wrong with this picture.
