Today we will celebrate one random thing that makes me happy..the Airstream Trailer. Just seeing them rolling down the road in all of the their vintage glory is enough to make me want to be like Willie Nelson..on the road again. Ok maybe not just like Willie as I will not be getting pulled over for drug possession..but you get my point!

Nothing makes me happier than coming out of a great weekend and this one was one of those! We had a couple of birthdays to celebrate within our circle of friends so we headed to Galveston, a nearby island. A new pier opened there so what better way to celebrate than with games, amusement rides, great friends and souvenir photos!

Aren't lazy days the best sometimes? While I love having a jam packed schedule it is nice to be relaxed at home from time to time, having moments to read, surrounded by things you love and watching the Style Network's marathon of Sex and the City. While that may not be everyone's idea of a great time, it is pretty high up on my list! 

And today I am loving my new yellow Navoh bag. It reminded me of the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag I had been eyeing at a fraction of the price!

Today I am happy about the fact that I finally have living things in my yard that I have not yet managed to kill. If you know me then you know this is a rare occasion.

Nothing says happy like cute little animal faces, so to start your day off right I present to you:

Another thing that makes me happy is helping a great cause. Saturday we did just that at the zoo for the annual Houston Stroll for Epilepsy benefiting the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas. Over $223,000 was raised to  help send children with epilepsy to summer camp at no cost to their families. We had a great morning at the zoo and hopefully in turn many children will have a wonderful time this summer as well.

Some days it is so hard to drag yourself out of bed. Most of those days are named Monday! Despite your need for a few more hours of rest and relaxation the alarm clock refuses to stop ringing. 

Just look at this adorable Shar Pei. If only we could channel him in his peaceful slumber...but we only end up with the human form of exhaustion..

Keith Richards. While I have chronicled my adoration for him in the past, I must admit that he is the most human form of a Shar Pei that I have ever seen.

Happy once you get over this one the rest are all uphill from here day! 

Where will the day take you? The countdown is on for my vacation! I can make it. I can do this!!!! And if the going gets tough there is always a bottle of unopened Advil in my purse!

Happy Monday AND...

More importantly Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! 

This morning when I turned on my television the first thing I saw were reports from the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington DC. I thought how proud he would be that people of all ages, all races and from all walks of life were descending upon his memorial to pay their respects. His humanitarian efforts and beliefs that he gave his life for made the world that we live in today less ignorant and hateful. His words today are still as powerful as when they were spoken decades ago:

"Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better."

"That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing."

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?"

"Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness."

"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

"All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."

Let's all strive to continue in the vein of Martin Luther King Jr. Set aside differences. Do not judge others for their beliefs, the culture in which they are born or whom they choose to have a relationship with. 

 Get out and do something for others. To set the tone I volunteered to help prepare food for the Meals On Wheels program. No matter how large or small the task we can all help do our part.

Happy Halloween

Today is a double whammy! Not only is it Happy Monday, but it is Happy Halloween as well!

I hope you all are having a great pumpkin day!

I celebrated by going ghost hunting this past weekend! I can't wait to share my stories with you all!

Now I am off to hand out candy to all the kiddos is the neighborhood!

Happy Monday and this is your friendly reminder that you only have two short weeks to figure out your Halloween costume! And I only have two short weeks to get a Halloween play list together. For five years the hubs and I have had the same set of songs that we play outside while waiting for the next batch of vampires, goblins and fairy princesses to come along. The list as it stands consists of Michael Jackson "Thriller", Marilyn Manson "Sweet Dreams", "The Addams Family Theme" and "Monster Mash". Those same four songs play roughly 1,000 times each during the night...perhaps I am exaggerating a tad, but you get my need to find more songs! Any suggestions?

So who already has their costume? I was actually early for once in picking out mine, which actually was my second choice. Turns out I have too much junk to go into the trunk of the black swan costume I had originally ordered!

Sometimes Mondays can be a bit overwhelming! I am trying to get back into the swing of things after a nasty bout of allergies. Come to find out my nose and throat do much better in the desert than the humid south!

Happy Monday everyone!

Most of you know that cupcakes are a sure way to make me happy so imagine my smile when I saw the mobile Sprinkles van had arrived to my corner of the world! AND just when I thought it couldn't get better..they had FREE cupcakes! :D Unfortunately, they are only going to have the mobile version here for a little while as it stops over from Los Angeles on its way to the east coast, but I am so glad I saw it in all its cute splendor, button hub cabs and all!

Oh and for my bloggy friends and fellow cupcake fanatics in New York City, especially Dorkys from Dry as Toast ;) , they are opening a location across from Bloomingdale's in May!
