Out With the New and In With the Old?

I love digital photography. Being able to retake a photo on the spot when you see that it didn't come out perfect is very helpful. Being able to crop out your thighs because you ate one too many pieces of cheesecake for Christmas is very kind to our self-esteem.

For all of the wonders of the digital world, I do miss the retro appeal of the Polaroid. Of course they are not as vivid as their new counterparts. I remember, though, as a child taking photos, having to shake them to get them to develop and then anxiously waiting as the picture begins to appear. It was so fun to see the final project once the colors all came into place.

I have found for you the best of both worlds:Poladroid. This website uses the best of both worlds. You begin by choosing one of your digital photos, all cropped and ready to go! Next you just click your photo into their Polaroid camera. Just like its original version, this Polaroid slowly develops and then...voila:
Photobucket

You have your very own new fangled version of a Polaroid!

Great Finds at a Great Price

I adore Anthropologie. I love their perfectly girlie, vintage look, but lets face it...it is far from being affordable. With a little shopping, though, you can find the same look for much less. Today, my bloggy friends, I have made it even easier for you! Take a look at these great finds:

This Xhilaration® Leaf Print Hinged Clutch Wallet in brown comes to us from Target. I love the brown and yellow leaf design and for only $12.99 there is no reason to resist!

I just had to pick up this Mossimo® Leaf Coin Purse in green when I saw it at my local Target.

The Automatic Open Floral Dot Umbrella
With all of these great finds at Target, it is going to be hard for me to resist stopping in!

The Peach Tulle Pom Pom Ribbon Necklace, from http://www.shopruche.com/ is a great alternative to some of the pricier versions of this look. For $14.99 this mesh and ribbon necklace is a great way be trendy, yet frugal!

Nothing says girlie like a ruffle! The Cuddless bootie from Steve Madden is a little bit more pricey, at $129, than the other items here, but oh so worth it. Available in blue, black, pink and taupe there is certainly a pair to fit into any wardrobe!

The Abigail Tulip Ruffle Gray Coat, also from the aforementioned shopruche.com, is pure loveliness with its peter pan collar and ruffle details. This looks so Anthro-like, but at only $84.99 it is a fraction of the price.

Forever 21 is a great go to source for affordable accessories. The quality is surprisingly great for the price, which is a bonus! This Lacquer Belly Owl Necklace would top off a fall outfit perfectly and for only $4.80!

Now...do you think if I sit here and purchase all of these items I could write it off as research for my blog? ;)
Hope you all are having a great Saturday!

Need Some Fun Ideas for Halloween Goodies?

While looking for ideas for our Halloween party I ran across the Disney Family Fun website. Gosh, with all of these Disney mentions on my blog lately you would think I had gotten a job at the mouse's house! Anywho, I wanted to share these themed eats with you. They have two things that I like when I cook-easy to make and cute!

Snack o' Lantern will make your children want to eat their daily serving of fruit. It may take a few moments to carve out the oranges, but I think the final result is worth it.

Pizza Mummies are made from English muffins, pizza sauce, olives and cheese.
Hairy Daddy Longlegs Cupcakes puts a spin on the traditional cupcakes with just a few added ingredients, licorice and sprinkles.

The Haunted Graveyard is definitely going to be on my menu for Halloween. Instead of hummus for the grass, though, I think I am going to get the hubby to make his awesome guacamole.

What will all of you be doing for Halloween? Do tell!

Would You Like to Channel a Disney Princess on Your Wedding Day?

Did you dress up like Sleeping Beauty for Halloween when you were a child and your princess fantasies have stayed with you all these years? Perhaps you watched Cinderella constantly as a little girl and wished that you could find your own Prince Charming and have a beautiful wedding. Well, your wishes my dears have now come true, at a price of course!

The marketing geniuses that are Disney now have a line of princess rings. Clothing designer Kirstie Kelly has created a line of engagement and wedding rings inspired by the six Disney princesses. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Ariel inspired engagement ring

Jasmine inspired engagement ring

If you want to keep the princess theme up, there is also a line of wedding and wedding party dresses by Kirstie Kelly. The above one is based on Cinderella, but all of the Disney princesses are represented in this line as well.

Let me give you a warning though! If this were Fantasyland your fairy godmother would make your gown magically appear and all of your happily everafters would come true. Here in the real world, you will have to work a little harder for it. Work harder, literally, when you hear the prices of the princess gear. The rings will set you back $1,200 to $6,000 and the dress prices range from $1,100 to $3,500. Prince Charming not included.

Why Have a Boring Lunch When You Can Have a Funky One?

I stumbled upon this website recently and thought it was too cute to keep to myself. Funky Lunch is a company that turns an ordinary sandwich into an adorable work of art. Their mission is to encourage children to eat healthier meals. They are hoping to create a book of Funky Lunches to show you how to reproduce their ideas.

All of the kids would want a mom like you if you sent your little one to school with a Sponge Bob on white bread. Those mom's who throw together two plain pieces of bread, a slice of cheese and a sliver of ham will think you are showing off, but who cares! It isn't your fault that you discovered that there was a better way!

For the folks at Funky Lunch to be able to achieve their dream of getting a book into publication they are trying to help spread the word about their company. If you love what you see here, and how can you not, check out more at Funky Lunch.

Right About Now You Are Dreading Monday

Of course you are! It is Sunday night and the last thing that you want to face is waking up at the crack of dawn and getting back to the grind of Monday mornings! Since I can do absolutely nothing to help you get out of work, I will try to help make it a little more tolerable.

If you would rather daydream of being on a tropical island than having to go to yet another meeting, then Cubeskinz.com can help give you the perfect setting. They have a variety of skinz, or wallpaper, for your cubicles. There is no excuse to stick to the standard cube color, prison-like gray, when you can choose from many cityscape's, nature scenes and patterns.

What else do you need besides cube skinz? Well, why not get coffee mugs to match your new decor. Any of my fellow design fans will surely have heard of the Pantone color charts. These mugs are inspired by Pantone and will add a little color to any dreary Monday!

It has happened to the best of us. You get to work on Monday with a nagging feeling that you are forgetting something. Then you see your coworker with a birthday cake. You suddenly remember that you signed up to bring something for Sally Jo's birthday party. You totally blanked out on getting the decorations and you have no time to go shopping now! Well, if you would have had the Mini Emergency Instant Birthday kit stashed away in your desk, the crisis would have been averted.

The Anne Taintor line of products always make me smile and I am sure the line of office goodies will do the same for you. When your boss hands you yet another piece of paper to add to the other thousand pieces of paper that you have yet to take care of, you probably wish you could use inappropriate language. Since you can't, well you can't if you would like to keep your job, file it away in this lovely folder. This sweet young lady will say for you what you only wish you could utter under your breathe.

We all have the coworkers who gets fifteen thousand calls a day. They haven't paid their credit card bills, their children want to go to their friends house, their husband wants to know what's for dinner....whatever! You can't be bothered to get all of the details yet again. This notepad will get the hint across. The hint being someone called and I am not your personal secretary!

Wishing you all a great work week!

Help the Economy-SHOP!

My friend Adrienne, who helps to aid in my shopping addiction, reminded me of this really fun website Fredflare.com. So here is the latest edition of things that you don't need, but are so adorable you will certainly want!

Even I would love to cook breakfast if I had this French toast stamp.

So you might possible scare your significant other when they wake up and see you in this mask, but how fun would it be to embrace your inner Audrey Hepburn!

Hostess Cupcakes are one of my all time favorites. I see this coin purse as having two wonderful advantages. The money that I do not put in the vending machine to get cupcakes can be saved in it, plus I can just look at it and not eat the real thing and keep calories from my thighs!

Looking out my window as we speak it looks like the Houston drought is finally over. Oh how I could use one of these umbrellas. They have several to choose from so if the scraggly sailor or the lady in white don't do it for you, I am sure they have one that will!

Design Find

I came across this website when looking for some unique wallpaper for a project in one of my design classes. It is from a company out of New Orleans called Flavor Paper and the ones shown above are actually scented. If only I were opening an ice cream parlor I would have that cherry paper behind the counter and some cool red stools to accent it! It would be adorable!

This one is another one of the many beautiful wallpapers that they have to choose from:

It is called Monaco and if there was any way that I could think of to incorporate this into my home I would be purchasing it right at this moment!

They also get two big thumbs up from me, because as I was browsing their website I noticed that they also designed the walls for the home of none other than Lenny Kravitz:

Anyone that knows me knows that I love me some Lenny so that is a good enough recommendation for me that this is an awesome company!

A Perfect Waste of Time

Check out this cool website retro junk (http://www.retrojunk.com/). It is so cool to go back in time to the 70's, 80's and 90's. They have old commercials, movie trailers and tv show themes.

On second thought- I feel soooooo old looking back at the 70's and 80's! I went to see my favorite movie of all time-National Lampoon's Vacation at the movie theater when it first came out and now it is retro!! Does that mean that at the age of 32 I am VINTAGE!?! Ok maybe I should not recommend this website after all, but botox instead! LOL!
